Todor Stevanović was born on March 9, 1937, in Zalužnje. He completed his painting studies in 1963 under the tutelage of Đorđe Andrejević Kun and earned his master's degree in 1967 under Nedeljko Gvozdenović at the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade. In addition to painting, he also engages in drawing, graphic arts, film, ceramics, mosaics, alternative free media, art criticism, art theory, philosophy, and literature. Given his multifaceted activities, Stevanović is a member of the Association of Fine Artists of Serbia (ULUS) and the Association of Writers of Serbia (UKS). He has regularly exhibited solo since 1956 and has participated in art exhibitions both in Serbia and abroad. In 1999, he represented Yugoslavia at the Venice Biennale. His works are held and exhibited in the National Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Museum of the City of Belgrade, as well as in numerous gallery institutions across the former Yugoslavia, England, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, the Canary Islands, Australia, South America, the United States, Canada, Austria, Sweden, Russia, and more. He has received numerous awards and accolades, including the Lada Association Award in 2012. He was nominated for the Kyoto Prize in 2010 in the fields of art and philosophy. He has been a corresponding member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU) since 2003 and a full member since 2012.
