Gallery Sanjaj had the honor of inviting and connecting three young artists—Damjan Kovačević, Marko Kusmuk, and Vladimir Lalić—into an informal group, although it was the art of drawing that truly brought them together, along with the awards and recognitions they have received. One of these is the Vladimir Veličković Award for drawing, which is considered the most prestigious award in this field. Drawing is, after all, a skill that is not learned but innate, and can only be developed and nurtured, which they are indeed doing. Each of them has created their own unique expression and poetics, and through authentic fantasy, they engage in dialogue in an extraordinary way. Through a blend of the real and the surreal, construction and deconstruction, physical and metaphysical, they present a world that appears behind closed eyes. Here, with their help, we see those worlds with our eyes wide open, discovering what we are searching for—the struggle between beasts and feathers.
